Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York may have just ended but the global show never ends. Only a day after the lights were turned out in the Big Apple, designers, trendsetters, buyers and press are already populating the Strand in London. In a sunny and rather warm day in the English capital, Toonari Post has made its debut at one of the most important events of the season.
The figures of the London Fashion Week are simply impressive. Considered one of the major international catwalks, in four days it will welcome over 5,000 visitors and host 60 shows on the official schedule. But that′s not all. As the British Fashion Council has set a goal to make the most out of technology, conventional presentations will take place alongside digital and streamed ones. Not to mention the cinema programme at BFC Canon Cinema. As a result, fashion lovers who haven′t been lucky enough to get a ticket to the shows can now watch the long-awaited SS15 collections on their devices. And tap their feedback on the go by using #LFW hashtag. Things are already heating up on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as fashionistas look for the latest in Somerset House and other exclusive venues.
At 10.00 am on Friday, September 12, Jackie JS Lee opened the official schedule at the BFC Courtyard Show Space. Her clean, monochrome silhouettes and structured minimalistic garments wowed the front row. Not to mention her futuristic edge cut hand bags.
The morning busy schedule included Faustine Steinmetz and her particular idea of luxury as handcrafted fashion, delicate Lolita-like Bora Aksu′s collection and Teatum Jones.
Afternoon designers didn′t let down their audience either. From Daks to recently graduated at Central Saint Martins Trager Delaney and from Eudon Doi to Jean-Pierre Braganza, thanks to them we could almost feel the warmth of SS15 taking over London. For a few hours we daydreamed about silky trousers, organza extravagant dresses and outfits with fewer layers.
There was a name in the air though: Christopher Raeburn. Paul Costelloe presentation and Felder Felder catwalk show were the best prelude to his mise-en-scène. Stepping up from his collection under Esthetica banner, Raeburn was charged with closing the first of many hectic days to come. As the sun was beginning to set, fashion people started checking their schedules. After so many networking brunches, lunches and deals closed over tea, it was finally time for everybody to relax.
